Goal Setting – Putting Motivation Into Perspective
If you’ve ever worked in a corporate environment, especially in a management position, you’re no stranger to the concept of establishing goals and their importance to any organization that practices management by objectives.
Even if you’ve never been in a position requiring you to define specific, measurable goals, you may not realize that every single day you’ve done so. This will also help you to build the confidence you need to be successful in life.
Your winning and successful experiences should include times in your life where you excelled at something. You don’t have to have won first place or even an award for that matter. These experiences should include the best times of your life. What are some of the things you have done in your life that you really enjoyed you wish you could do again? Possibility thinking is the key to achieving success in your life. If you want to achieve a goal you focus on the absolute possibility of its achievement. Possibility thinking can be achieved in so many ways and it is what will help you become motivated to do things in your life. If you are negative about achieving a goal you will procrastinate and not want to work toward the goal, it’s that simple. There are many ways you can expand your possibilities and maintain a positive direction.
1) Focus on the Important Things
It is very common for people to focus their energy on things that are not really important to them. When your emotional energy is spent on things that are not important it can be very draining. Affirmation statements -we hear them spoken often by motivational speakers, authors, writers etc., but what can we personally do to harness the power of affirmations in our own lives?
Think about a time in your life when you desired to make a change ” something major, like finding a new job, moving to a new city or home, or something less momentous like a New Years resolution to improve your overall health. Can you think of a past experience like that? Now, think about the tools that you used or steps that you took to help guide you through that transition and keep you focused on achieving your goals while making that change. There are times in life when the end goal we have set for ourselves is larger than we want to see. These goals are best broken down into smaller steps along the way. Goal setting for success can help to break down the seemingly insurmountable walls surrounding these goals. At the heart of goal setting is the smaller bits and pieces of the whole and the celebrations we give ourselves along the way.
When choosing personal goal setting as the method to your end goal, there are a few tips that you can follow to increase your chance of success.
